A charming early 19th-century Black Forest marriage wall cupboard, of rectangular form with a moulded cornice above a pierced and carved foliate frieze , the panelled door richly decorated with traditional scrolling foliage, flowers and styled floral motifs, flanked by further foliate panels. The central door bearing the initials "H" and "P", presumably commemorative of the original owners, with an iron lock and hinges, the cupboard retaining a warm , well aged Black Forest pine patina throughout. The central carving features a symmetrical, scrolling floral vine. This represents growth, fertility and prosperity, which are traditional themes for a wedding gift. The original key is working smoothly in the old lock.
